Come and try sailing
Every Saturday morning, 10.00 am to 1 pm, from Easter until
October half-term
and by arrangement on weekdays during the school holidays.
£20 per child £25 per adult for one morning
Must be booked at least a week in advance
Designed
for young people and adults as an introduction to sailing on the Broads.
No experience necessary, all equipment provided. Family sessions can be
arranged.

The RYA Youth Sailors Scheme
(for ages 8–16)
is
designed to provide an introduction to sailing in easy stages.
Beginner (Stages 1 and 2) covers basic skills required to sail a boat.
Improver (Stages 3 and 4) develops the skills and confidence of the individual
and prepares them for the advanced skill modules.
We offer both weekend (term-time) and week long (school holiday) courses
(All non-residential).
One weekend will advance you one Stage, a week course covers either Stages 1
& 2 or Stages 3 & 4.

Cost? From £81 (2 –days Stage 1) to £167 (five days, Stage 3 & 4)
Having passed Stage 4, experienced young sailors over 12 years may
consider going for the adult, Level 3, Better Sailing, qualification.

Tented accommodation may
be available for families and organised youth groups only during August. Ring

The RYA National Sailing Scheme for adults (16 years+)
has
been developed to enable participants to get the most from the sport.
Level 1, Start Sailing, introduces the basic skills.
Level 2 builds on these skills and introduces the essential elements of good
sailing.
Level 3, Better Sailing, will give you more confidence and skills in
stronger winds, and polish your skills in lighter weather.
For adults, we schedule only weekend courses
(non-residential) although weekday dates can be arranged if wanted.
One weekend will advance you one Stage.

Costs: Level 1 (2 days) £131; Level 2 (2 days) £132;
Level 3 (2 days) £133.
Note some experience is advisable between Level 1
& 2 and significant experience is required before passing Level 3, although
the tuition and assessment may be on separate days.
Note: All RYA Certificates are
awarded for achievement and not merely for attending the course!

RYA
Advanced Sailing – a set of parallel modules exploring various
aspects of the pastime/sport of sailing. Open to adults and young sailors over
12 years holding Level 3 or having equivalent skills and experience. Course
dates are arranged in response to demand. Ring 01692 536 411 for details.
Seamanship Skills (2 days)
How to handle a boat in
all circumstances and solve problems afloat. This will teach you to sail in a
seamanlike manner and make seamanship decisions in moderate conditions.

Day Sailing (2 days)
Passage planning and decision making for small boat cruising. Weather,
tides, pilotage, buoyage, and how to
get out of difficult situations!
Cost: £138
Sailing with Spinnakers (2-days)
Everything you need to know about sailing modern three-sail boats.
Teaches you how to use a spinnaker. How to rig the boat, gybe and recover one
type of spinnaker, either conventional or asymmetric. How to sail the best
possible course downwind. Cost: £138.
The RYA National Powerboat
Scheme courses are for those who use small, open powerboats for leisure or
work, whether for their own sake or in connection with another activity such as
sailing or rescue. There are three levels –
Powerboat 1 – basic skills; how to handle a displacement
powerboat on smooth waters. Cost: £181
Powerboat 2 – more advanced training in faster boats for
those with some experience (this course may be given away from the Centre),
cost £182; and
Safety Boat – for those who provide safety support for
clubs etc. £141. NB Powerboat 2 is a pre-requisite.
Note Powerboat 2 is obligatory for those wishing to train as Dinghy
Instructors, as is Safety Boat for those wanting to go on to be Senior Sailing
Instructors.

The RYA First Aid Course is for those who
go out in small boats (obligatory for Instructors). Ring 01692 536 411
BTAC Assistant Dinghy Instructor – a centre-specific course for those who want to assist in delivering
sailing courses at BTAC, typically as part of a school or youth group, but it
is also the first step to vocational qualifications.
RYA Dinghy Instructor courses, run by an RYA Coach and moderated by an external RYA Examiner
can be organised if there is sufficient demand. Note: candidates for the course
should be experienced sailors, must hold the RYA Powerboat 2 certificate, and
must pass an assessment of their sailing skills before the course starts.
We also offer archery, canoeing, rafting and team-building courses,
